AstraZeneca, the British drugmaker, announced today that it has licensed a 90 mcg HFA HFA inhaler for sale at a drugstore in New York City.

The inhaler is for the treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and has been approved by the U. S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The inhaler is available for purchase in 100 mcg or 200 mcg doses, and will be available through pharmacies at $25 per inhaler. The 90 mcg inhaler is the most widely used 90 mcg HFA inhaler in the United States.

“This is a great opportunity for patients to access and use the most cost-effective and effective HFA inhalers,” said Michael Lechleiter, President and CEO of AstraZeneca.

In a press release from AstraZeneca, the company said it will continue to sell asthma and COPD treatment options to pharmacies for 90 inhalers.

“This is a great opportunity for patients to access and use the most cost-effective and effective asthma inhalers,” Lechleiter said.

“We believe patients and caregivers can take advantage of the best available treatment options available and continue to use them, and we look forward to working with our patients and caregivers to ensure the quality of our medicines is met,” said Lechleiter.

“We continue to believe asthma and COPD treatment options are available to individuals, families, and caregivers. We will continue to work with patients and caregivers to make effective asthma treatment choices,” he added.

About 90 inhalers in the United States are available for purchase by pharmacies. Some of the 90 inhalers in the United States are currently being marketed as Ventolin HFA.

Ventolin HFA is one of the most commonly used 90 mcg HFA inhalers.

TheNew England Journal of Medicinerecently published an analysis of the use of the 90 mcg inhaler in treating COPD patients, concluding that 90 mcg inhalers were as effective as the standard 90 mcg inhalers.

The article is part of a study called the Asthma Trials in New England and New York that evaluated the efficacy and safety of the 90 mcg inhaler in children and adults.

The study, led by AstraZeneca, is a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 90 inhalers and the use of 90 inhalers in children and adults. The study is ongoing and is funded by AstraZeneca.

Asthma

What is Asthma?

Asthma is a common lung condition that causes occasional breathing difficulties.

It affects people of all ages and often starts in childhood, although it can also develop for the first time in adults.

There’s currently no cure, but there are simple treatments that can help keep the symptoms under control so it doesn’t have a big impact on your life.

Symptoms

The main symptoms of asthma are:

● Wheezing (a whistling sound when breathing) ● Breathlessness ● A tight chest, which may feel like a band is tightening around it ● Coughing

The symptoms can sometimes get temporarily worse. This is known as an asthma attack.

Several conditions can cause similar symptoms, so it’s important to get a proper diagnosis and correct treatment.

Your GP will usually be able to diagnose asthma by asking about symptoms and carrying out some simple tests.

Treatments

The main types are:

● Reliever inhalers – used when needed to quickly relieve asthma symptoms (salbutamol) ● Preventer inhalers (steroid) – used every day to prevent asthma symptoms occurring ● Some people also need to take tablets.

Causes and triggers

Asthma is caused by swelling (inflammation) of the breathing tubes that carry air in and out of the lungs. This makes the tubes highly sensitive, so they temporarily narrow.

It may occur randomly or after exposure to a trigger. Common asthma triggers include:

● Allergies – to house dust mites, animal fur or pollen, for example ● Smoke, pollution and cold air ● Exercise ● Infections like colds or flu ● Identifying and avoiding your asthma triggers can help you keep your symptoms under control
